Honour to the brick !
For centuries, terracotta bricks have been known and loved for their capacity to retain heat before restoring it slowly. They are the reference material for the manufacture of bread ovens.
To build a traditional Excellence range oven, we only need refractory bricks produced in France by a supplier that also holds the EPV (Living Heritage Company) label. After having prepared the refractory chamotte structure of the oven, our bricklayers cut the bricks by hand, one by one, to line the bottom, the roof and the entrance arch.

Well-designed and insulated ovens for a heat that lasts
The Excellence range ovens all feature an 8 cm thick brick roof and bottom. They are also perfectly insulated with a thick layer of high temperature mineral wool for the roof, and a vermiculite slab for the bottom.
In equipped version, our ovens also include a cast-iron exterior door and a 2nd removable insulating door. In this way, the heat is preserved very well during cooking in a closed oven… and even all night long before your morning gentle cooking. Thanks to the thermometer integrated into the roof, you can check the temperature during cooking without opening the door, to ensure the optimum heat maintenance.
Assembly
An oven to decorate, ready to assemble or already assembled ?
Easy to assemble and dismantle, all our wood ovens are supplied in kit format, except for the Carriole, which is delivered turnkey. The Marmiton, the Campagnard and the Gourmet consist of only 3 to 5 pieces of refractory chamotte that can be quickly assembled without any masonry work, and are supplied with detailed installation instructions. Then you can decorate your oven as you like, with a customised facing in plaster, brick, facing stone, and so on.
If you prefer an oven that is already finished, Four Grand Mère also offers a number of ready-to-assemble facings for the Marmiton, the Campagnard and the Gourmet ovens.
These coverings are available for ovens in the classic version only –
excluding raised and two-entry ovens.
